Invisalign® Q&A

Using an innovative, customizable design, Invisalign® makes gradual and precise tooth alignment easy, discreet, and comfortable. Inspira Advanced Dentistry offers Invisalign to treat the most common kinds of malocclusion, including overbites and underbites, at their two offices in San Jose and a third in Saratoga, California. Call the office nearest you today or book your consultation online to find out if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign orthodontic treatment.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment offering simplicity and comfort. The treatment uses custom transparent plastic aligners that fit over your teeth and place gentle but increasing pressure on your misaligned teeth. You receive a series of aligners, and you must use them in their proper order to correctly align your teeth.

During a planning consultation at Inspira Advanced Dentistry, the team uses 3D imaging technology to create detailed impressions of your teeth. Using these impressions, they also map out how your teeth will move while you use Invisalign. Then, they send the impressions to a lab where your aligners are made.

Throughout your Invisalign treatment, you’ll visit Inspira Advanced Dentistry once every six weeks so that your orthodontist can track your progress. You won’t need to make as many visits as you would with braces, and your treatment takes 9-15 months to complete as long as you stay on track by wearing your aligners consistently.

How does my routine change while using Invisalign?

You’ll need to make a few adjustments to your oral care routine while using Invisalign, but they’re simple. You must keep your aligners on your teeth for 20-22 hours a day, taking them out only to eat, brush and floss, or drink anything but plain water.

Because you can remove your aligners to eat, there aren’t any special considerations regarding your diet. However, you need to brush your teeth after eating before placing the aligners back in your mouth.

You should also be sure to clean your aligners regularly with warm water, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. The team at Inspira Advanced Dentistry might recommend that you get a special Invisalign cleaning kit.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?

Compared to conventional braces, Invisalign offers the following advantages:

  • More comfort
  • Fewer office visits
  • Less visibility in the mouth
  • No dietary restrictions
  • Easy teeth cleaning
  • Easy device cleaning

Your Invisalign treatment is individualized, and the shifting of your teeth is precise due to state-of-the-art imaging and planning. You can expect to see the changes in real-time since you can remove your aligners every day.

You don’t have to keep your crooked teeth or wear inconvenient, uncomfortable braces to fix them. To see if you’re a candidate for Invisalign, call the office or request an appointment online today.
